Railton Road in Herne Hill is arguably one of the prettiest and most vibrant South London streets you could wish to find. Fast forward to a Sunday and this quiet neighbourhood street becomes a bustling, friendly local market packed to the rafters with fresh fruit and veg, fresh fish, bakeries and street food stalls. There are also stalls selling fashion items and arts and crafts, as well as vintage items. It is so good in fact that it is a favourite of Channel 4’s Mary Portas, the ‘Queen of Shops’.
Well, if that doesn’t sell it for you, maybe the news that Cannon & Cannon are regulars every Sunday at the market will do the trick. We absolutely love this market; one of the friendliest you could wish to find and one of the nicest places to spend a lazy Sunday. Our friendly staff are always on hand to give the good people of Herne Hill a taste of our range of artisanal British saucissons. Get your hands on a veal, lemon & thyme salami, a mushroom and truffle saucisson or a spicy Cornish chorizo. Perhaps try some snacking biltong for your afternoon drinks too!
Once you’ve got these, grab yourself some cheese and a freshly baked loaf and you’re set for a picnic in nearby Brockwell Park, arguably South London’s premier green space. If the weather doesn’t help us out, stock up for Sunday evening nibbling and then spend the afternoon with the papers and a Sunday roast in The Commercial, a pub in the heart of the action.
We can’t wait to see you at Herne Hill for a chat and a taste of some delicious British cured meat so come down this Sunday! Find us there from 10am-4pm.
