We’re avid readers of Marie Claire magazine, so were delighted to see that they’ve declared biltong to be 2016’s big new superfood. We’re not totally sure about some of the reporting in the piece (not least the picture of jerky at the top), but we are totally behind the sentiment. Evening Standard writer Victoria Stewart put it as one of her 3 food predictions for the New Year too.
Our biltong, made by Francois of Limpopo butchers in West London, is an awesome snack. Yes it’s packed with protein, MSG free and fat light … but it’s also made from happy free range British cows, and tastes mega. Pick up snack packs this January at our market stalls in Borough Market and Kings Cross, or buy it in bulk from our online shop and get it sent straight to your door or desk. There’s a feisty chilli number, and this writer’s favourite, the moreish, tangy, herby ‘Butcher’s Choice‘. Both are available in 500g bags for £24.99 a pop (which, mathematicians will realise is a bargainous £49.98 per kg – the dubious tat in the supermarkets is often double this).
