We’re very excited to be hosting this evening of the finest English wines, sparkling wines and British cured meats.

Gusbourne’s goal is to create English Sparkling Wines that stand up against the very finest offerings from around the globe. The first vines were planted in Appledore, Kent in 2004. In 2010, the debut vintages of Gusbourne Brut Reserve 2006 and Gusbourne Blanc de Blancs 2006 were released to critical acclaim. Gusbourne quickly earned a reputation as a producer of outstanding quality wines, with accolades from some of the industry’s most exacting critics.

Gusbourne believe that the only way to ensure the quality of their grapes is to grow them themselves. Therefore, all of the grapes used in their winemaking are sourced solely from their own vineyards, planted to Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. They chose to plant primarily Burgundian clones – so the vines produce lower yields than other clones, but the fruit is riper and with more flavour. Extended lees ageing helps to create wines with both elegance and complexity.

Their recent award highlights include 6 Gold medals in 2015, including 2 ‘Gold Outstanding’ from the International Wine and Spirits Competition, 2 Platinum awards at Decanter World Wine Awards 2016 and English Wine Producer of the Year in 2013 and 2015.

Laura Rhys, their resident Master Sommelier, will be here to share with us her passion and expertise and guide us through the pairing of a minimum of 5 wines with 5 of the finest British cured meats, chosen by our very own Sean Cannon.

The ‘formal’ part of the evening will last about an hour and a half, after which there’ll be an opportunity to indulge in further drinks from the bar and platters of the finest British cured meat, cheese, pickles and bread. Doors open at 18:45, for a 19:00 start.  You’ll find us tucked behind Borough Market, at the back of Jubilee Place, which is off Winchester Walk.
